The original gas slider of the PX200 has on the bottom side (side facing the crankshaft) central cutouts with a large radius (often wrongly called cutaway). This pocket allows the carburetor to contribute a controlled amount of air to the carburetor at medium slide stroke in order to reduce the mixture.
The slides are therefore available in three versions.
- 4.0 – Open = as original = lean
- 4.1 – 50% closed = slightly fatter than original
- 4.2 – 100% closed = significantly fatter than original
If the motor rings slightly at medium slider position in the partial load range, a change to slider type 4.1 can help. The engine then runs a little fatter in this range.
Engines that run much too leanly in the middle range or do not require air supply (original e.g. Rally200 and Cosa200 original), use the type 4.2.
Cutaway
Common to all sliders is the small central cutaway at the beginning of the slider surface. This is important for the gas acceptance on the first millimetre of the slide stroke. If the angle of attack of the cutaway is changed here (filing), the resulting vacuum and thus the response behavior can also be changed here.
FAZIT: Nice part to make the fine tuning perfect. Ideal to get powerful SI-based engines well tuned even at high speeds and little slider stroke (highway!).
