Description
ZYLINDER VMC 244 EXPLORER
VMC from Italy presents the VMC244 Explorer cylinder, a high-displacement sports cylinder for the 200cc Vespa engines from Piaggio. Who wants to have on his PX200, Rally200 or Cosa200 neat torque paired with a good rideable power curve, reached to date to the Quattrini M244.
The VMC 244 Explorer uses the same technology, with the help of a crankshaft with extra-long connecting rod. This lifts the piston, including the overcurrent system, to a level above the sealing surface of the engine case. This trick provides sufficient overflow area and volume, a key factor in 2-stroke tuning.

MOUNTING
The VMC Explorer, unlike the M244, has a cylinder barrel (cylinder block) which dips 8mm into the engine case (similar to a conventional, original cylinder). Therefore, it is necessary to enlarge the diameter of the engine case to accommodate the cylinder base when mounting the VMC cylinder. VMC offers self-help in this regard by placing a steel plate as a guide for milling by hand. Professionals can of course machine the housing accordingly on a milling machine.
A crankshaft with at least 126mm connecting rod length is required for the assembly.
A longer connecting rod than the 128mm provided by VMC can of course be compensated quite easily with appropriate spacers. This has the advantage that on longer strokes than the intended 60mm the steering angle of the cylinder can be adjusted according to your own ideas.
